Papa Taught Me a Lot

Being a kid is a great thing. You enjoy some perks in life that we growns up we can't do. Like for instance, we get to enjoy most of the time going to school, play with other kids, eat and sleep as we long wanted during weekends and even not going to school if were not feeling that well like simple toothache. My childhood days is really fun and yet awakening to the reality.

Back in earlly 90's when sugar industry is turndown. my dad used to work in a sugar mill factory as accounting personnels. He usually brings me to his workplace together with my mom and we stay in the cafeteria which my aunt is the owner. We would stay there until papa would be out from work. We would much on cakes and sodas. What's interesting most in there is the tour in entire sugar mill grounds. My dad and together with my brother and cousins would tour us along. I would love to see sugarcane carried by the steam-powered trains then directly to sugarcane milling machine that turns a cane in to a crystallize powder. We would then go to the offices were hear typewritters and piles of paper of each desk and greeted papa's colleagues at work. When I started going to school. We would always check my on homework and he taught how to basic arithmetic skills specifically in subtraction. As a kid, I really hated subtraction. Like in real life, most of us hated to remove something that make us complete. I remember before going to school, he would always check if my stuff is ready for school. He would even pack my meal. Papa is really meticulus. When he move for Cebu for work. We were left with mama and my late grandmother. He used to call during weekends through telephone since mobile phone is not that popular and still a luxury product. We would talk for few minutes only. When loong weekedns comes and holidays, he would go home and makes use time that much. We would go out splurge ourselves with food, go to the beach or even fishing. Then, before he leaves for cebu, he has to make sure that everyone is ready for school the next day.

Papa taught me lot of things in real life. He taught me not to smoke and drink. Papa is a smoker and he quitted only when he got stroke. He would smoke a lot and when I was a kid I really hated the smell. Thus, it made me decide not to smoke becuase of the smell.

Papa is meticulus in terms of money. He would spend on things that are useful enough. He's an economist and he would have stuff that we need rather we want. I would not forget that he really doesn't want to buy me the airplane toy that I really wanted but forced him as reward of my good scholastic performance.

Indeed he molded me of what I am today. He taught me to life as simple as you can, work hard and reap you blessings and share it to others. He's been there in ups and downs. Since it's Dad's on Sunday. My dad is at home with my mom and I am thousand miles away from him. All I want to say is Papa you taught me a lot of things life and I pray that you'll be in good shape. Though there are times that we misunderstood each other we still have chance to talk. Thanks so mcuh and I love you pop!

To all dad's out there, Happy Father's Day!
